House of Style: Music, Models, and MTV
A few months back, MTV asked me to join a group of models, designers and musicians in talking about how the iconic show “House of Style” presented and indeed changed the fashion landscape. The show is such an amazing time capsule and looks at the time when the supermodel reigned supreme. It really was the first of its kind, long before fashion made a splash on the small screen. When new models try to claim supermodel status or announce they are bringing back the supermodel I have to laugh - that time period will never be repeated, but at least we can look back on all the fabulousness of it thanks to MTV.

WHO WORE IT BEST?
‘Tis the season for plaid! Just last week, we (over)analyzed the orange and black plaid shirt teen heartthrob Justin Bieber wore to an event in Hollywood, ultimately concluding that he can pull off flannel fabulously. Well, so can the ladies. Last night, top model Coco Rocha, host of MTV.com’s VMA 2010 Red Carpet Report, wore a red and black plaid shirt to the WWD 100th anniversary party in New York, even matching her vibrant red lipstick to the top’s hue. Both Justin and Coco look awesome in plaid, but of these two, we’re voting for Justin wearing the trend better, mainly because he wore his shirt proudly, while Coco covered it up with a black jacket. But what do you think?
MTV NEWS: HOW THE MODELS REACTED
Kanye West released a new track over the weekend named “Christian Dior Denim Flow” featuring Kid Cudi, Pusha T, John Legend, Lloyd Banks, and Ryan Leslie. Kanye West loves fashion, this we know, and he has name-checked high-fashion labels in his songs before. But what’s most interesting about this track is how he names all of the models he wants to date in one verse! We counted 20 models in the song total, ranging from supermodels like Kate Moss to Victoria’s Secret angels like Alessandra Ambrosio. And what did the models think? THEY LOVED IT! Check out how four models — Coco Rocha, Selita Ebanks, Jessica Stam, and Veronica Webb — reacted to their Kanye West shout-outs below!

MTV’s Red Carpet Report

Two weeks ago I told you I was skipping town on New York fashion week to go host the red carpet event for MTV’s VMA’s. Turns out it was actually a white carpet but needless to say, it was a very fun experience. For a few hours I was interviewing everyone you can think of and asking them any question I could think of. Really, I had no idea what I was doing but if you missed it I’m posting some of my highlights in this blog. COCO ROCHA TO HOST VMA RED CARPET REPORT
Exciting news! MTV Style just confirmed that superstar model Coco Rocha will host the 2010 Video Music Awards Red Carpet Report for MTV.com on Sept. 12! Coco will lend her style expertise to the VMA red carpet and interview celebrities about their fashion for MTV.com. “Only the VMAs could drag me away from New York Fashion Week for one spectacular night in L.A.,” Coco told MTV Style. “I can’t wait to interview music’s biggest stars about what they’re wearing on the red carpet.”Coco Rocha, 21, is one of the top models of the moment. After being discovered in an Irish dancing contest in her hometown of Vancouver, Canada, four years ago, she started booking gigs right away — including the cover of Italian Vogue! Not a bad start, right?! Since then, her career shot straight up and up and up, as she landed on the covers of Vogue, Dazed & Confused and, most recently, this month’s 25th anniversary issue of British Elle. She also has walked hundreds of runways worldwide, like Marc Jacobs, Chanel, Balenciaga, Zac Posen and more. And you’ll recognize her face from a variety of advertising campaigns, like The Gap, Victoria’s Secret PINK, Yves Saint Laurent, Rimmel London, Christian Dior and Dolce & Gabbana.
