Here’s great little video where I talk about embracing your flaws, my love of dance and my dance role model (and now good friend), Jean Butler. In reality, without her inspiring me to dance I never would have been scouted as a model.
I just arrived in Paris to support my dear friend, Jean Paul Gaultier, and so I thought it only appropriate that I post this interview we did together in the latest copy of American Glamour Magazine. Gaultier has given me so many amazing opportunities on his runway; he was the designer who asked me to Irish dance down the runway in 2007, which really put me on the fashion radar. More than that, though, he is one of the kindest, most sincere people you could ever hope to meet. See our interview below:
I’m very excited to let you all know that I’m co-host of this year’s Fendi-sponsored NY Coalition for HomelessARTWALK on November 7th. I’ve supported this cause for a few years now and I’ve seen firsthand how important its work is for New York’s homeless. This year we’re honoring Jack Pierson with Richard Gere and Carey Lowell. Please buy your tickets while you can at COALITIONFORHOMELESS.ORG.
As a side note, last year’s ARTWALK had me dancing this little jig for Alec Baldwin and Richard Gere, who were sitting front row. Who knows what will happen in 2012!
You may have seen me Irish dance before (if you haven’t, go HERE + HERE), but I doubt you’ve seen me tap! Watch my first attempt at tap dancing for White House | Black Market’s spring/summer TV campaign above - it launches on TV today, but you get to see it first right here!
P.S. Yes, I did all my own stunts and still have the bruises to prove it!
A few months back I told you about JIG, The Movie and how watching an advanced copy of it took me back to my early days as an Irish dancer.
I’m happy to announce that I’m going to be LIVE on webcam chatting tomorrow night (Wednesday) at 6pm EST during and after a special online screening of the movie at constellation.tv/jig. Wanna watch? Wanna chat? You can use the discount code “cocojig” when you purchase your ticket to receive 15% off the ticket price! This is a very special movie and I’m really happy to be able to bring it to my fans before it’s available anywhere else.
COCO + IRISH DANCE + GLEE? - While watching ‘The Glee Project,’ I heard Ryan Murphy, the producer, say he was thinking of doing an Irish dance-inspired episode. Um, music to my ears!!! Can someone please tell him I’m his girl? Huffington Post already spread the word but I need you guys to REBLOG!!
In other Irish dance news, tonight I’m going to the New York premier of JIG the movie! Remember the little promo I did last week? Very excited! Go HERE for more info.
JIG - A few weeks ago I was sent an advance copy of an amazing new documentary called JIG. The film really struck a chord with me because it delves into the fantastic and often bizarre world of Irish dance, a world I came from long before entering into high fashion at 15 years old.
In this little video I talk about my early life as an Irish dancer and my infamous Irish jig down Jean Paul Gaultier’s runway in 2007.
I’m happy to announce that JIG - the film will be released across America on June 17th, 2011!
*Additional filming, editing and production by James Conran with kind assistance and footage from the office of Jean Paul Gaultier.
