FLARE - February 2012

The other day I showed you the cover and now I’m happy to show you the whole Flare editorial! I always love working with Flare and I’m so so thankful for their support in my charitable efforts this past year - GO HERE to read about our partnership for Haiti.

It was also great to work with photographer Chris Nicholls again. Together with Flare Magazine, Liz Cabral and my husband James Conran, we won the National Magazine Award for our last editorial together! GO HERE to see that.

THE MAESTRO OF HAIR - Odile Gilbert
Photos by Alex Cayley

Hairstylist Odile Gilbert is a legend in the fashion world and a favorite of people like Karl Lagerfeld and Jean Paul Gaultier - not to mention, a big favorite of mine! As an artist, she has been part of many of my most memorable fashion moments in the last 8 years and I’ve had the joy of working with Odile on countless shoots and shows.

A few months back, Odile came to NY to shoot this story all about her work with Allure and asked me to be a part of it. To find out more about Odile, please read the article in the October issue of Allure.

Day Of Judgement - Daily Telegraph

A few months ago I was shooting in New York’s financial district on what was THE hottest day of the year. Needless to say, I was shooting fall fashion - coats, jackets and all. The story for the shoot was based around a fictitious A-list celebrity going in and out of court for a high profile case. Photographer Patric Shaw cast the lawyer, legal aid, paparazzi and police officer perfectly, but once we started shooting we found that what we needed was a second paparazzi. I knew just the man to call! My husband James came down to meet us and is the second paparazzo hand in half the pictures.

Just after lunch the actress playing the police lady said she had to go do another job, so we were left without a officer. James came to the rescue again, this time donning the uniform to act as my police escort in half the pictures. In one picture you’ll see James breaking up a brewing altercation between myself and the paparazzi - I wish you could see the outtakes from this series of pictures - quite hilarious. At one point I was fully on James’ back, trying to get at the paparazzi man.

This is now James’ second shoot with me. You might remember he shot with Patrick Demarchelier and I for an American Vogue story. Quite the little portfolio he is working up!

Barbra Streisand - Model Inspiration. I posted my cover of Dazed & Confused a few days back and now I get to show you one of the editorial pictures! One of my personal icons has always been Barbra Streisand. Besides being an amazing performer, one thing that always stands out to me is how elegantly she holds her hands in pictures and on film (go, Google it for yourself!). She never forgets to pose her fingers and so whenever I model I always think “Barbra Streisand hands.” That’s my little modeling secret of the day.P.s. As added proof I adore Barbra, here is a video of me with photographer Nigel Barker, posing to “Don’t Rain On My Parade” a few months back.

AMERICAN VOGUE - September 2011
Photos by Steven Meisel.

In this month’s American Vogue I was privileged enough to make a cameo in all 5 images in the “Playing To Type” editorial shot by my favorite photographer, Steven Meisel.

But can you spot me? Consider this like a high fashion game of “Where’s Waldo?”

BEHIND-THE-SCENES: What more can I say about the August ELLE UK? I’ve talked about my cover, I’ve talked about the editorial… I’ve even mentioned the article I wrote about Cindy Crawford and Iman… but have I told you that James created the official behind the scenes video for Elleuk.com?

Yep, they liked his work on my blog so much they hired him as the official videographer for the 2-day, 20-picture shoot! It was so fun. Have a look at what really goes on…

ELLE UK - This has to be my absolute favorite shot in the editorial I did for this month’s ELLE UK.  I’ve been trying this pose in pictures for a little while now, but up until this month, no photographer had ever picked it for print. Thanks to Matthias Vriens-McGrath, Anna-Marie Curtis and the entire team at Elle for such a memorable editorial!ALL TWENTY PAGES & COVER - HERE!
