Film Biz RecyclingIf you liked the decor of my apartment in Vogue (click) then you’ll love Film Biz Recycling. Its this great charity that take in abandoned movie props that would have ended up dumped in a landfill somewhere and recycles them back into use. James and I have found a lot of our favorite treasures there and we think its a must-go-to for anyone who’s looking for that unusual piece for their home.Recently Film Biz moved from Queens to Brooklyn and into a giant space 5 times the former size! This last week my sister-in-law Rebecca Conran (she has a tumblr too!), who is an art director for movies and commercials, volunteered to arrange the huge inventory of random props into these amazing little vignettes all around the 10,000sq foot space. James and I helped moving everything and we actually filmed the transformation of piles of knick-nacks into these amazingly little scenes like from a movie - I’ll be posting that video just as soon as we’re done editing it. Today is the opening party of the space from 4pm - 8pm. I think you should all get on the R train to Union Street and give Rebecca and Eva (the owner of FBR) a big pat on the back! You’ll probably come home with something you never knew you needed, let alone existed!
